Safety information
 The potective element of Tekon consists of organic silicon compounds( chemicals combining  carbon and silicon atoms, or "silicans") dissolved in apporopriate balance of organic solvents. The "silane" compound is chemically reactive with both itself and the surface to be coated. The organic solvents serve to dillute the active silane ingredient to the right concentration to provide a way of applying the material to the surface and give the correct protective coating thickness. The liquid coating itself is a mild irratant and typical of most organic solvents. This product should not be splashed in the eyes or inhaled for prolonged periods of time. When you apply tekon to the surface the organic solvents evaporate away and the coating remains, curing with exposure to humidity. The curing process releases small amounts of methyl and ethyl alcohols which evaporate entirely. The resulting coating consists of a network of carbon and silicon atoms tightly linked. The cured coating is insoluable, free of volatile residues and no longer contains irritants of any varity. The surface coating resembles parafin wax and is safe for food prep areas, countertops, sinks and appliances. Based on the chemistry, insolubility and durability the coating of tekon can be considered physiologically inert and entirely non-toxic.
